Salahdine Parnasse made a statement in his UFC debut on Saturday, knocking out Dan Hooker in the main event of UFC Paris and immediately calling for a fight against former champion Max Holloway.
The French featherweight, who entered the octagon with buzz from his KSW days, needed less than two minutes to drop Hooker with a sharp combination. The referee stepped in as Hooker covered up against the cage, giving Parnasse a TKO win at 1:41 of the very first round.
Parnasse, 28, had been signed by the UFC just months ago after a dominant run in Europe. Hooker, a veteran known for his durability, had won three straight fights coming in and was expected to test the newcomer's chin. Instead, Parnasse landed clean early and never gave the New Zealander a chance to get going.
“I want Max Holloway,” Parnasse said in his post-fight interview inside the octagon, referencing a future fight at 155 pounds. Holloway, the former UFC featherweight champion, has been competing at lightweight and is currently scheduled to face a top contender later this year — making the timing intriguing for a potential matchup.
The finish drew reactions across the sports world. San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who was cageside in Paris, was captured on video celebrating the knockout. The UFC's decision to headline a Fight Night in Paris with a debutant paid off, as the crowd erupted when Parnasse landed the finishing blows.
Hooker, 35, had been on a resurgence since 2023, but the loss snaps his momentum and puts him back in the crowded lightweight pack. Parnasse, meanwhile, improves to 17-1 in his career and jumps straight into the title conversation at 155 pounds.
Whether the UFC grants Parnasse's request remains to be seen. Holloway has not yet responded publicly to the callout, but the demand for the fight is already building online. For now, Parnasse has done what few debutants ever do — he made the entire division take notice.
