The most-added quarterback on fantasy waiver wires this week is not a rookie, not a backup, and not a name most managers had circled in August.

Week 2 start/sit advice is flooding in from Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, CBS Sports and SportsLine — and the quarterback conversation has flipped almost entirely from where it stood seven days ago.

CBS Sports flagged Bryce Young's huge season opener as making him an intriguing QB to add off the waiver wire. ESPN's matchup rankings, meanwhile, have Dak Prescott and Terry McLaurin positioned as rebound candidates after quiet Week 1 showings.

Yahoo Sports listed Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray and the Rams among the top stories entering NFL Week 2. SportsLine's projection model — which it says has outperformed experts — has its own set of Week 2 rankings that don't always line up with the consensus.

The tension is the point. Week 1 gave fantasy managers a tiny sample and a lot of noise. A quarterback who threw for three scores in a loss can look like a must-start. A quarterback who struggled against a top defense can look droppable. Neither read is reliable yet.

What the analysts are actually weighing: opponent pass-defense rankings, offensive line health, game script, and whether Week 1 usage was a one-off or a trend. Those factors are why Prescott and McLaurin appear as rebound picks in one set of rankings while other models stay cautious.

Young's case is the most interesting. A huge opener makes him a popular add, but the waiver-wire rush doesn't answer the harder question — whether he's a Week 2 starter or a bench stash.
The rankings will keep shifting through the weekend as injury reports land. For now, the gap between what the models project and what the matchup rankings suggest is where the real Week 2 quarterback edge is hiding.
